About us

Brotherhood

Brotherhood is the most important aspect of any fraternity. Without a sense of brotherhood the other aspects of a fraternity either cannot exist, or do not matter to the group. The short time spent as an active brother of Beta consistently produces large groups of lifelong friends. This not only helps with networking, but it also provides personal support groups as we go through life that help us conquer any situations that arise. Our mission statement says this well, “Our brotherhood aids the individual, builds the Fraternity and strengthens the host academic institution through lifelong devotion to intellectual excellence, high standards of moral conduct and responsible citizenship”.

Academics

The main purpose of UC Santa Barbara is to provide students with an education that will help them to succeed in life. Beta Theta Pi never loses sight of this. We provide our members with the environment and encouragement to excel academically. Our chapter is consistently holds one of the top cumulative GPAs on campus. Beta boasts of numerous Honors students and has more than 95% of alumni employed or pursuing graduate studies after graduation. With many of our members pursuing graduate degrees, academics is an area that we pride ourselves in, and we make every effort to recruit new members to carry on our academic excellence.

Social

The Social Life at Beta is second to none. The entire fall semester revolves around Southern California weather and Isla Vista's unique student culture. Barbeques with brothers, date parties down town in Santa Barbara, parents weekend and alumni weekend are just some of the events we hold over the year. The social schedule does not end there. Each quarter is filled with socials, grab-a-dates, and sorority formals. Highlights of the quarters include the Beta Eurotrash, Beta PLUR and Beta Bedrock. In the fall, we have an annual date trip to Big Bear, in addition to our Spring date trip to Las Vegas. The best social event, however, is hanging out in the back yard on a random afternoon playing volleyball or throwing around a football. As we stated above, the Beta social schedule is second to none.

Athletics

We hold athletics in high regard at Beta and because of that we excel. Most Betas that you meet are high school lettermen in one or multiple sports. We have found that competing alongside somebody is a great way build camaraderie. Because of that we field teams in at least two intramural sport that UCSB offers each quarter, and in are consistently the team to beat across the board. Some of our most recent athletic achievements include 1st place Kappa Dash, 1st place Pi Phi Capture the Flag.

Leadership

Beta at UCSB takes leaders and provides the opportunities to polish your skills through various leadership positions within the chapter, on campus or within the Greek community. Beta continually has members serving on the Inter-fraternity Executive Board, Daily Nexus Staff, Associated Students, Residential Hall Association in addition to internal leadership opportunities within the chapter.
